This is the earliest water meter we have on record (NO38). It has a clock, flow indicator, gallon meter, flow recorder and integrator. The pulley on the arm on the left hand side is for the weight, the input power to the system.

This website is devoted to the tall, early, double, Kent water meter. Stands over 6ft in height this is one of a pair that was used. The original colour is gray and this has been painted over many times in water board blue (almost battle ship gray). All the lower elements are cast iron and the cabinet about protects the meters from the hostile environment, situated in a process room with a high content of chloride.
